Introduction 3-stages RO systems, video

The video describes a 3stages RO system, the basics.

Read about reverse osmosis. I recommend you to get a meter to test the water in order to know when to change filters and/or membrane.

The system must be connected to your water supply in some way. The shown plastic adapter is included: it fits the showertread in the bathroom.

This faucet adapter is OPTIONAL, since not everyone will buy it. Video about connections.

It can be screwed onto a normal faucet with either external or internal thread. Read more about the faucet adapter.

The 3-stage systems are produced in large quantities in China and Taiwan. They are made smart with plastic holders. Everything can be turned, pushed and tilted. 2 plastic containers, which can be fastened onto a wooden plate, may be mounted on the large membrane housing.

The large housing contains a membrane that is included in the package. After having put Vaseline on the two small O-rings, the membrane it slided into the membrane housing. The other two containers are called "inline filter".

Placement

You can place it wherever you want. You get a total of 3 meter of water hose for 3 tubes.

Water filter need not always be connected

You may unplug the adapter from the faucet when you have made the clean water and put the system aside and reconnect it when you want to make clean water again. You can store many liters of water in glass containers. IKEA has inexpensive glass containers in different sizes. We've had a unit lying in 6 weeks without being connected to the faucet and it worked perfectly again after the 6 weeks.

If you connect as shown on the faucet in the kitchen, it's a good idea to place the pot in the sink to avoid flood on the kitchen table (I have tried) AND to set an alarm clock.

This video shows my small unit in operation and I measure the ppm

The 3 steps of filtering

  1. An inline (disposable) sediment filter removes coarse particles such as lime, rust, dirt, sand. Standard Product, also called the 10 "inline because the filter container and the filter itself is built together.

  2. An inline (disposable) activated carbon filter removes such chlorine, lime, volatile chemicals and hundreds of other man-made chemicals. A standard product as above.

  3. A membrane removes 95-99% of bacteria, viruses, hormones, pesticides, heavy metals, nitrate, copper, asbestos, herbicides, etc..
